Pearl Nwa

Stephanie Sainvil is the lead organizer of the only Atlanta Haitian Mas Band, Pearl Nwa; who will be representing at the Atlanta-DeKalb Carnival. She originally embarked on this grand vision in 2002 after not seeing a dedicated Haitian float at ATL Carnival. So she gathered some of her friends and they formed "For the Love of Haiti" Carnival Troupe. They represented Haiti for several years before deciding to take a break. Years later, after Georgia declared the month of May Haitian Heritage month in February 2017; championed by State Rep. Erica Thomas; Stephanie felt that it was time to get the troupe back together again. So in 2017, "For the love of Haiti" was rebirthed as "Pearl Nwà" (The Black Pearl).

In 2018 Pearl Nwà wants to tell a story about how it all started; a story of a resilient and beautiful people who committed to never live in bondage no matter where they reside; a story of a beautiful people from different parts of Africa merging traditions, foods, history, and languages together; a story that will showcase a people “Out of Africa”.
